Immediately after the Tsunami of December 2004 Helplanka was formed and started sending relief supplies to Sri Lanka by ship from the UK . The Trustees of the charity made field visits to the country and set up partners and programmes starting in Moratuwa . After the work in Sri Lanka following the Tsunami Helplanka moved its emphasis to helping special needs children and rural poor in non Tsunami affected areas of the country. Our work with Deaf and Blind children ,war orphans , abandoned children , sexually exploited children and differently abled children continues.
